New version of ffmpeg Video and Audio converter out for AmigaOS4

If you want to convert video and audio on AmigaOS. It can be difficult. But there are open source alternatives like ffmpeg that makes this possible even on AmigaOS4 too. Great Amiga News!

ffmpeg 4.0.2 out for AmigaOS4 on OS4Depot site

Today, ffmpeg 4.0.2 got uploaded to OS4Depot site. You can just unpack the app, but if you want altivec version. You need to do extra work. Then you need to run “Unpack” from the Shell in AmigaOS4.

ffmpeg is a very fast video and audio converter that can also grab from a live
audio/video source. It can also convert between arbitrary sample rates and
resize video on the fly with a high quality polyphase filter.

The command line interface is designed to be intuitive, in the sense that ffmpeg tries to figure out all parameters that can possibly be derived automatically.

You usually only have to specify the target bitrate you want.

ffmpeg 4.0.2 requires correct suffix to convert Music Modules

AmigaOS is made so that you don’t need a suffix behind a filename at all. The operating system is made so that it will detect what kind of file you use automaticly. However! With Linux apps ported to the AmigaOS world. Some of their needs for things like suffix is a thing you need to add when converting.

Especially for Music modules with .med and .mod suffix. They need to be added in the command line when you want to convert them. This shouldn’t be needed, but thats how Linux and Windows apps is made. They need the suffix to work.

Get the things done easier with FFmpegGUI for AmigaOS4

If you don’t like to act like a Linux guy in AmigaOS. Then you need a GUI addon. FFmpegGUI is the GUI that you need. You find it on OS4Depot site here. In addition of supporting ffmpeg. This GUI addon also works with LiveForIt’s version of MPlayer for AmigaOS4.
