No More AmiSSL Locks on AmigaOS4 Libraries

amiga news

The open-source encryption protocol AmiSSL which brings OpenSSL to Classic Amiga and AmigaOS 4 has been updated to version 5.6.

This AmiSSL contains a fix for AmigaOS 4 users that experienced locks in the previous version. There are also server applications and some other minor changes.

The AmiSSL changes in detail

  • Fixed TLS 1.3 cipher lookup failure regression on OS4
  • The improvement from v5.4 that released file locks on the OS4 libraries is now only activated with elf.library 53.35 or higher
  • Minor build changes

All applications that use SSL in AmigaOS, MorphOS, and AmigaOS4 of the previous versions of AmiSSL v5 will automatically use AmiSSL 5.6.

On MorphOS you don’t really need this update, but if you want to use AmiGemini, IBrowse, and other AmigaOS 68k applications that look for the AmiSSL location. Then it is a nice thing to install. Install the libraries to the main partition of MorphOS.

AmiSSL Requirement for Classic Amiga

AmigaOS 3.0 or higher is recommended. Also a 68020 or better too. With AmiSSL you can browse way more of the WEB sites using IBrowse with any Classic Amiga home computer. Also, this package is great for using AmiGemini and other software that requires SSL to work.

Remember to set your Amiga clock to now. If you do have no battery, a nice NTP solution can help AmigaOS to adjust to the current time.
