Tsunami 1230 is a New 68030 accelerator

Amiga News Tsunami 1200

This is a non-commercial project in the same way as the A1100 is by the same remarkable person, so, in order to make a batch of the Tsunami Accelerator board, he needs to know how many people are interested in it. This is a complete 68030 accelerator for your Amiga 1200 and it will also work in the A1100 by Arananet too.

If you are interested in Tsunami 1230 accelerator, then follow the instructions on his website here. Write to the email in the post on the Tsunami 1230 website here and do declare the interest. Arananet which runs this site will then count how many people are interested and will contact you back with the price of the Tsunami board.

In this video above Edu shows the speed tests done with Tsunami 1230 vs Blizzard 1230 that was made by phase5 which is no more. It looks like a nice piece of work on this card. Lots of kudos for this achievement.

The Full Specifications of Tsunami 1230 for your Amiga 1200 and A1100

  • 68EC030 QFP CPU at 42MHz
  • 64MB Fast RAM
  • 68882 FPU footprint ready and also a selectable clock for overclocking the FPU
  • External expansion port for future upgrades (secret stuff, can’t tell)
  • Clockport port (RTC only)
  • Compatible with any A1200 motherboard revision
  • Fits in your old o new old stock A1200 case!!!
  • A1100 compatible

This seems to me as a perfect accelerator for those that want 68030 speeds on your Amiga 1200 or A1100. With FPU, this is a strong accelerator. You can play Gloom Deluxe and Xtreme Racing in fullscreen and 1×1 pixel mode turned on. I just don’t understand why Commodore didn’t release an Amiga 1200 with 68030. Amiga 3000 was already out. Sheesh… it could be awesome! But having the possibility of having accelerators is one of Amiga 1200’s best weapons.

Thanks to Arananet for doing this accelerator. The 68030 market is still there for those that don’t need 68060 or 68080 FPGA upgrades. With enough interest. This card will see the full daylight.
