Tomb Raider for Amiga is Not a Joke!

OpenLara is an open-source engine for the classic Tomb Raider games, developed by XProger. It allows players to experience this classic game on modern systems with improved graphics and performance. And yes, OpenLara is now ported to Amiga!

It is a huge significant achievement by BSzili! Also the fact that OpenLara is reportedly playable on Amigas in eab forum with a 68030 processor is quite impressive, especially considering the demands of 3D graphics.

It just shows everyone that any Amiga with a better CPU can coup with Playstation 1 graphics.

If coded well for the Amiga platform, games can be ported well as this dirty port shows. This first try is With no sound or music…! But it is playable. Brilliant!

BSzili has been actively working on this project, and you can Download a functional OpenLara demo running on Amiga hardware.

This is just a proof of concept that took me a few days. No sound, no full game, no warranty. I put it out there as a call to action: if anyone would be interested in helping out with the rasterizer let me know

So, if you want to see more of it. Say hello to the developer. And look at the comments:

“Runs great on my 030/50. Made a video about it, but it will be all Greek to you (cause it is 🙂

“AGA or RTG
4 Mb Fast
No FPU needed
Library: lowlevel.library”

Perfect to know… Will be interesting testing this further and I really hope for more development. This is awesome! This release is not a April fool joke… It’s real… !
