This is the new PiStorm-Framethrower

Claude Schwarz posted a nice image of PiStorm-Framethrower. It’s the new PiStorm-Framethrower, based on the RP2350 microcontroller chip. This is the version for all Amigas without AGA. This is OCS and ECS – Denise.

A AGA – Lisa version will hopefully follow soon too.

Q&A about PiStorm-Framethrower

What is this?

“PiStorm Framethrower” is a hardware and software project in development for the PiStorm Amiga accelerator. Its main purpose is to allow the video output from the Amiga’s native chipsets (like the Agnus and Denise) to be redirected and displayed on a monitor via the Raspberry Pi’s HDMI port.

What does it do?

The PiStorm Framethrower allows users to view both the accelerated RTG (Retargetable Graphics) desktop and native Amiga screen modes (like for games) on a single modern monitor, without needing a separate video upscaler like the RGB2HDMI.

What is an RP2350 microcontroller?

RP2350 is a 32-bit dual-core microcontroller (containing selectable ARM Cortex-M33 and/or Hazard3 RISC-V cores) by Raspberry Pi Ltd. In August 2024, it was released as part of the Raspberry Pi Pico 2 board.

When will it be out?

When the team thinks it’s ready.
