Are you frustrated when you ask ChatGPT or other Ai assistants about Amiga and their answers? Most of them only have the most basic knowledge of the Amiga, however that is now about to change thanks to Amigo AI!
Amigo AI is a new AI-powered assistant tailored specifically for the Amiga scene has been announced. Finally a Ai that understands Amigan 100%?
“The Future of Retro Computing starts here_
We connect the legendary Amiga world with cutting-edge AI technology. Databases, an intelligent assistant and a community — all in one place.”
With this Amigo AI assistant, you will be able to talk way more accurate about Amiga topics. ChatGPT is quite ok at Amiga knowledge, local Ai’s just knows the most important Amiga history and Claude Ai etc.. I haven’t tried, but from what I’ve seen it’s a the same level as ChatGPT.
Amigo AI project
The new AI assistant by Heiko is called Amigo AI, and the project aims to provide accurate, in-depth knowledge about the Commodore Amiga and its ecosystem.
Unlike mainstream AI systems, Amigo AI is trained on a large collection of Amiga-specific material, including hardware documentation, programming guides, and historical references.
This allows the Amigo Ai to deliver more precise answers when dealing with topics that are often poorly understood by general AI tools.
Newcomers and experienced users is the goal for Amigo Ai
The assistant is designed to support both newcomers and experienced users.
Whether someone wants to understand how classic custom chips. Ask about how Agnus or Paula work, or needs help writing code in 68000 assembly. Amigo AI aims at giving you way more correct answers.
Amigo AI will also have extensive AMOS knowledge, which will make this AI assitent act as a knowledgeable companion rather than a generic chatbot.
One of the more interesting aspects of the project is its integrated development environment. Users can write and test code directly within the system, thanks to a built-in editor and an emulator-based workflow. This removes the need to switch between multiple tools, making it easier to experiment and learn.

Improved Amiga accuracy
The system also uses a retrieval-based knowledge approach, meaning it can pull from a curated database of Amiga-related documents to improve accuracy. This is especially important in a niche community where correct technical information matters and misinformation can easily spread.
Why This Matters Beyond the Amiga Community
For people outside the Amiga world, the idea of a dedicated AI assistant for a decades-old computer platform might seem unusual. However, it highlights a broader trend: specialized AI tools are becoming increasingly important in niche and technical communities.
The Amiga ecosystem is known for its unique hardware design and highly specialized software environment.
Much of its knowledge exists in scattered documentation, old magazines, and community forums. General AI tools often struggle with this type of fragmented and highly specific information, sometimes producing answers that are close—but not quite correct.
This is where a focused system like Amigo AI becomes relevant.
By being trained specifically on Amiga-related material, it can provide more accurate and context-aware answers. This approach mirrors how AI is starting to be used in other fields, such as engineering, medicine, and software development, where domain-specific knowledge is critical.
Amigo AI welcomes newcomers to the world of Amiga
For newcomers, this could lower the barrier to entry into the Amiga world, making it easier to learn programming, understand hardware, or simply explore the platform. For experienced users, it offers a faster way to access reliable information and experiment with ideas.
In a broader sense, Amigo AI represents how modern technology can help preserve and extend the life of legacy systems. Rather than fading away, platforms like the Amiga can continue to evolve thanks to Amigo AI.
It is supported by tools that make their complexity more accessible to new generations.
Small fee for getting AmigaOS access

Amigo AI is expected to become available in early April 2026. It will be a handy companion for sure. For 15 euros per month it is planned to have AmigaOS accesss. A Desktop client and Unlimited AI for 25 Euros per month as pro. But the FREE version will also let it browse it’s Amiga database.
If successful, it could represent a new way for users to interact with Amiga knowledge, combining modern AI capabilities with one of the most passionate retro computing communities still active today.
