A new development video by reassembler has appeared on YouTube showing progress on bringing Sonic the Hedgehog to the Commodore Amiga. The video, explores whether one of the most iconic console platformers can be adapted to Amiga’s sound hardware with a very different design philosophy.

Sonic on its way to the Amiga!

The video above highlights how much effort it takes to reproduce the music in the game for the Amiga version of Sonic.

Despite these challenges, the project shows promising results for each video released. This project is not just about recreating a game, but it is also about exploring the limits of the Amiga itself.

Much like classic Amiga titles that pushed the hardware beyond expectations, this Sonic port demonstrates how modern developers continue to find new ways to unlock performance from a system designed in an era that is almost forgotten.

What do you think of his progress?
