Apidya’ Special devs must not forget RTG Amiga

Apidya’ Special is in the making by ININ Games is an authentic, 24-bit pixel remake—no 3D models, no AI upscaling—just handcrafted pixels and passion. The game is based on the Amiga shooter that got high rates and big love within Amiga communities all over the world.

But one thing? … Apidya’ Special seems to forget that today classic Amigas got much more raw power because of 68060 100MHz, Vampire, and PiStorm! This means that classic Amigas should be targets for games such as Apidya’ Special, which doesn’t require 3D or AI upscaling. Apidya’ Special would run pretty well on Vampire and PiStorm-equipped Amigas for sure.

RTG Amiga is underrated

The history of Amiga is so deep rooted into the custom chipsets made by Commodore. But in reality, all Amigas are computers like any PC or Mac. Before Amiga 500, both Amiga 1000 and Amiga 2000 came out with expansion capabilities that PC’s at the same time didn’t provide.

For Zorro II, the most well-known RTG cards are Cybervision and Picasso IV cards. But there’s also ZZ9000, and with Vampire and PiStorm, you get RTG solutions too. AmigaOS 4, MorphOS, and AROS are all already on RTG, but classic Amigas did demand a bit more effort to make RTG work, and so it’s an underrated topic. But with Vampire and PiStorm or even Warp cards with strong 68060’s the classic Amigas now have speeds that are on par with the PowerPC Nextgen AmigaOS systems.

It would be fantastic to see Apidya’ Special released for RTG Amiga,… and Amitopia can reveal that something is going on. Until further information, make sure that you like what Amitopia is doing for the Amiga community.
