Alien Breed 3D

Introduction

One of the first true Doom-style FPS games on the Amiga. It was developed by Team17 and published by Ocean Software. With Amiga’s strong Paula soundchipset, this 3D FPS game was a pioneer in many ways in the same way as Doom was.

Introduction

Impact on Amiga 3D

Widely regarded as one of the most advanced native FPS engines ever created for classic Amiga systems, pushing the hardware far beyond what many believed possible.

When this game was released, no Amiga home computer could play it at 32FPS. But!… Finally now! You can actually play it in 32FPS on 68060 80MHz++ equipped Amigas.

Breathless

Introduction

Breathless is one of the most technically ambitious first-person shooters released for the Amiga, developed by Fields of Vision and published by Power Computing. Designed to push the hardware to its limits, it features fully texture-mapped 3D environments with a darker and more realistic tone compared to earlier Amiga FPS titles.

Impact on Amiga 3D

Breathless pushed the Amiga’s 3D capabilities further than most of its contemporaries. It pushed it so hard that tons of PC users felt off their chairs reading about it in 1995. How can Amiga show 3D at all like a PC? Breathless showed that it’s possible!

The game offering a more demanding and visually detailed experience. It remains one of the most technically advanced FPS titles developed for classic Amiga systems.
