It’s not often that a new full game gets released in a box these days, with a shortcuts guide, postcards, and a proper manual! It’s also not often that the Amiga gets such a high-quality title released for it either, but LOOK did it at Amiga40!
Check out the quality of The Settlers II release!
Most of the applications for modern computers are today, either games or serious programs today. They are all getting only digital releases. Everything is online, and if you want to read, you need to print the manual yourself. But not so on the Amiga! The Settlers II release proves that! Check out Amitopia TV’s unboxing video here!
On the Amiga platform, you still get proper game releases in a box that includes everything (or even more) that you need for it to work!

Including The Settlers II, there are Rougecraft (right) and several other games that you can also purchase on the itch.io site been released in boxed releases. Fantastic!
When you purchase a game box release instead of digital, you feel that the game is yours. No subscription or fake loot boxes are needed to make the economy work! Here, everything is legitimate, and if you own a game that you love, you are also proud to have it physically in your room! Releasing a game only online isn’t the same at all. It’s not!
Everything you need is in The Settlers II Amiga Box Release
With The Settlers II for the Amiga, I got all the info I needed to make it run on my 68k or PowerPC-based Amiga. A CD inside the box, an Amiga Keyboard Layout guide, including a manual that I cover a bit later.

The fact that the game comes with an Amiga Keyboard Layout guide, including the manual, tells me how serious LOOK took this release. I was amazed by the effort made by LOOK! I really want to stay in the Amiga-dimension forever!
If Amiga can let the world know that it is going insane, and not the other way around. Then I am staying forever, promoting it.
Manual with proper Amiga information!
The Settlers II also comes with a manual that covers the entire AmigaOS support by the game. It contains everything you need to know on how to install it, with a great installation guide on AmigaOS 3.x.

It also lists the system requirements needed to run the game. The manual got nice shots (as seen above) of the installation program and an explanation of the various choices during installation of the game. I get tears in my eyes just seeing the quality of the manual! Really!
This makes me wonder about the fact that I am writing an article about how great a manual is done! But this The Settlers II box release for Amiga is a remarkable release, which shows that the modern computing world is heading in a totally wrong direction that I don’t want to be part of promoting.
Way more gaming companies should look back at what the amazing Amiga community is doing.
Now, I am going to install the game and come up with a proper review. Once I have played it a bit, I will write a review that will give the game a fair score based on my experience. Instead of hurrying and giving it a score, I want to review the entire experience of having a remarkable game box release for the Amiga.
