RACING GAME REVIEW FOR CLASSIC AMIGA WITH 68040++
The Amiga, a remarkable platform known for its groundbreaking multimedia capabilities, has long been a bastion of 2D excellence. However, the pursuit of true 3D on this beloved machine has often been a challenging, albeit fascinating, endeavor.
Speed Haste is a new game released for Amiga that takes one of those challenges, and its taken Amiga 3D gaming to the next level. Here is our review of Speed Haste that been tested on Amiga 1200 with 68060 100MHz and Amiga 2000 with 68040 1.4GHz. Here is my own review of the game.

Finally, a 3D arcade racing game!
There are tons of racing games for Amiga. Including some of the best arcade racing games ever such as Super Hang-On, Lotus series, and even “the almost 3D arcade game” Flyin’ High. The last one does have 3D textures on buildings etc, but the camera is set behind the car as in the Lotus games. When you turn the car, the car turns while camera is set making it not so realistic compared to games for Playstation 1 and MS-DOS such as Need For Speed and Screamer.
So, with those words. I want to present Speed Haste, which is the very first true 3D arcade racer for Amiga. There is a racing title named Alien F1, Virtua GP 3D that is indeed very impressive. But that game is not a arcade racer where you race to just have fun. Speed Haste however got all 3D arcade racing features in it, bringing Amiga gaming to the next level.
More Amiga 68k Power
Speed Haste is a game comming from the depths of the Amiga community, emerges a title that shatters expectations and pushes the boundaries of what’s considered possible. It is a game that require power of a 68040 or faster Amiga, because this game delivers a fully textured 3D racing experience that feels almost alien to the platform. Forget the wireframes and blocky polygons of the past; Speed Haste presents a world of vibrant, textured surfaces and a sense of speed that’s genuinely breathtaking.

If you Remember the 3D action racing game Daytona USA by SEGA? Now, Speed Haste is taking that vibe to the world Amiga with faster 68k CPU’s which is incredible. Running both on AGA and RTG. And if you have a Pistorm or Vampire you can even bump up the graphics from 320×240 to 640×480 and still having a blast!
Speed Haste stands as a testament to the dedication and ingenuity of Amiga developers.
Fluid Gameplay That Ive Never Seen Before
From the moment that you load Speed Haste, you feel its a game that delivers. You can find the Shareware version easy, while the full game is harder to get. When Speed Haste loads up, you are greeted with choices that is easy to understand.
You can choose between Daytona type of cars or Formula 1 racing cars. Then you choose the track you want to play at and the game starts.

Once you are in the action, the gameplay responds really nice I think, if you have the same specifications. The game is fluid from the moment you start it on 68060 100MHz in 320×240 and on 68040 1.4GHz in 640×480. I haven’t tested the game on 68040 or 68060 lower than 100MHz, but since we are in the nextgen era for Classic Amiga gaming. The standard for Amiga gaming is now higher than before.
The gameplay is really fun using the keyboard. However, as a bonus …. The Amiga version of Speed Haste supports Amiga joysticks and wow how amazing it was driving using a QuickShot Pro Joystick driving in a Playstation 1 type of gme. It is really fluid! Speed Haste melts the amazing Amiga feeling with modern gaming in a such perfection I think. There is absolute no negative things to say about the game. Yes! Even the music and sound effects are brilliant.
Conclusion
If you are a arcade racing guru like me, then Speed Haste wont dissapoint. The only thing that I could find to nag about is the music, but it does the job. Its not but, just that the music in the Lotus series on the Amiga is what I am comparing it with.
This is the best 3D arcade racing game ever released for Amiga in years, I think. Now I wonder if Amiga can get games such as Need For Speed, Screamer or even Daytona USA??? Well, Speed Haste is here and it made my Amiga heart go wild when I saw how playable it is. Finally there is a 3D arcade racer that delivers so much. All kudos to Szilard Biro which made this port available.
