Native Plex client for AmigaOS

That's wild. A remarkable new client in beautiful MUI look! A real Plex Media Server audio browser running straight on a 68k Amiga with 68060 or better. Browse and play your whole audio library from any Amiga with AmigaOS 3.0 or better with MUI 3.8 installed.

That means you don't need to transcode or shuffle MP3s on a CF card anymore. You just point your classic Amiga at your home Plex server and stream your library.

AmiPlexAmp connects to a Plex server on your local network, then it decodes MP3 streams on the Amiga side with mpega.library or when using FLAC streams with dr_flac, and outputs through either AHI or directly through the SAGA HQ audio channel on Apollo Vampire V4.

Requirements for AmiPlexAmp

68030 minimum = brave souls only. It will run but MP3 stutter city.

68060 comfortable = that's the classic sweet spot, especially your 80MHz 68060++.

Vampire 68080 excellent = makes sense, AMMX + extra speed for JSON + image scaling.

And the details are gold:

  • 8MB Fast minimum - But more is better! Have at least 32MB RAM! any less and MUI + TCP stack = out of memory too fast. But for Warp, Vampire and PiStorm this limitation is nowhere to be found!
  • RTG 16-bit+ for cover art - on AGA you'd have to dither those 600x600 Plex covers and it would look rough. On RTG (Picasso96 / P96) it can actually show proper art.
  • Arne backend on V4 vs AHI on V2 - That is a great touch. Arne is so much cleaner for direct audio on V4, while V2 and classic Warp/TF cards just use good old AHI.

Registration of AmiPlexAmp

Out of the box AmiPlexAmp runs as a 5-minute demo: a requester pops
up at the end of the session and the application exits cleanly. The
window title shows "(unregistered)" so you always know the state.

To remove the time limit, become a supporter of the Apollo Vampire
community at:

https://apollo-vampire-lair.com

Supporters receive an amiplexamp.key file. Drop it into PROGDIR:
(alongside the AmiPlexAmp executable) or into S:; both work and
PROGDIR: takes precedence. On the next launch the title bar loses
the "(unregistered)" tag, the About box shows the registered name,
and the 5-minute timer is off.
