Dark Horizon AGA is out for Amiga! A cyberpunk anti-grav racer!
Emiko invites you to an epic racer for Amiga. It's just out and its our duty to invite you to this futuristic racer! Get it now, if your AGA Amiga is upgraded.
The Amiga AGA scene is getting another injection of neon and speed. Developer deroybe has released Dark Horizon AGA, a new futuristic racing game that puts you behind the wheel of anti-gravity craft in a dark, cyberpunk cityscape.
High-speed Inspiration!
Inspired by classics like Wipeout and F-Zero, Dark Horizon drops you onto high-speed circuits where timing your turbo boost and cutting the perfect line means the difference between first place and the wall.
The game features six tracks. Five of them are available from the start and one secret track for those who push hard enough! That's a nice difficult level thinking along with AI-controlled opponents that will fight you for every corner.
AGA Graphics shines in Dark Horizon!
Three modes are included: Single Race for quick action, Time Trial to perfect your lines, and Free Practice to learn the circuits without pressure. During races you must overtake rivals, dodge obstacles, and manage your turbo to reach the top of the podium.
On the technical side, Dark Horizon is built specifically for AGA machines such as Amiga 1200, Amiga 4000 and Amiga CD32. It uses a custom perspective engine that keeps the sense of speed high, runs directly from Workbench, and features ambient menu music and sound effects.
For the best experience the author recommends a 68040 or better with Fast RAM and a hard drive. So, even Amiga CD32 users needs to upgrade! Dark Horizon can preload graphics into Fast RAM for smoother performance, while machines with less memory can stream data from disk at the cost of some performance.
An 68060, PiStorm, or Vampire will give you the smoothest ride.
AI made game for Amiga
Like many modern Amiga releases, the developer notes that AI tools were used as support for programming, graphics, sounds and texts.
Dark Horizon AGA is available now as a free download on itch.io. If you have an A1200 or A4000 ready, fire up your Amiga, turn down the lights, and boost into the dark horizon.
