Amiga Makes It Possible

LightWave is Native Again on Amiga. This time on RTG!

Friends, this is huge for anyone who remembers making 3D on the Amiga 💛

LightWave 3D is back. Natively. For RTG.

Thanks to an amazing collaboration between Tolkien and Kikems from AmigaWave, we now have a native RTG version of LightWave running on modern Amiga systems. No more CyberGraphX hacks. No more workarounds. Just pure LightWave, in all its iconic glory, on your AGA/RTG Amiga.

LightWave 3D RTG on Amiga

What is LightWave RTG?

For those who weren’t there: LightWave 3D was THE software for Amiga 3D in the 90s. Babylon 5, SeaQuest, and thousands of demos were made with it.

This new release brings LightWave back to life with native RTG support. That means it runs beautifully on Picasso96, CGX, and modern graphics cards. It’s faster, cleaner, and it feels like 1995 but in 2026.

The project was spearheaded by the AmigaWave team. Special thanks to Tolkien and Kikems for making this happen.

A quick thank you

I also want to take a moment to say how amazing Amigatronics is.

They’ve always been a reliable partner to the Amiga community. Long before the hacking and all the downtime we had, Amigatronics was translating Amitopia articles to Spanish so more people could enjoy them. They helped our stories travel.

So thank you, Amigatronics. For supporting the scene, for keeping the news alive in Spanish, and for being there. We appreciate you so much ❤️

Are you going to try LightWave RTG? What was the first thing you ever rendered in LightWave? Tell me!
