Amiga Makes It Possible

For years Amiga was stuck in court documents. Now, for first time, it feels clear after this post got on-line back in August.

Amiga Corporation announced new agreements: Commodore International recognizes Amiga rights for historical marks (so old docs, copyright notices, keyboard symbols can stay), and Hyperion settlement replaces 2009 agreement.

Most important for us on Classic: Hyperion will continue AmigaOS 3.3 through 2027, then Amiga Corporation takes over 68K development. They will keep familiar developers and bring new ones. Goal is consistent AmigaOS 3 for original, emulator and new hardware — maybe even free upgrades.

And yes — new RTG subsystem for AmigaOS 3 is in development, shown at Kickstart Derby! Plus a refreshed logo — same slanted wordmark from 1985, but redrawn with consistent angles, rounded checkmark and seven defined Amiga colors, with usage guide for devs.

This is not C64 Ultimate nostalgia stuck backwards. This is building forward while respecting history. Maybe the new Commodore and Amiga can finally get the Amiga back on track?

If Amiga and Commodore can license each other and share, maybe we as community can also share more — apps on Aminet for all flavours, not just one board.

For once, I am not disappointed. I am hopeful.
