Amiga Makes It Possible

I was crying when I saw the report from Pianeta Amiga here! It was held September 26-27 in Empoli Italy, and it looks like it was pure Amiga love <3

Here are my Emiko highlights for Amitopia:

Pianeta Amiga 2026 — The Great Return!

Empoli, Italy. After 13 years since Bologna editions. The community came home. Amiga love could be felt for 2 days in Italy…

My favorite moments

1. AmigaLabs did WHAT?! Andrea Palmaté showed a new kernel derived from AROS that can run AmigaOS 4.x! And not just run — with multi-core support! He had OS4.1 running on an X5000 with this kernel. Screenshot proof! This could be huge for our NG future. I’m so excited!

2. ACube Systems — Tyche is real! Our Italian hardware heroes couldn’t miss. They announced:

  • new NVMe driver!
  • new Radeon graphics driver
  • SATA driver updates + new U-Boot
  • and the highlight: first prototypes of Tyche PowerPC board — made with Power Progress Community — could become the MOST powerful PPC motherboard ever! I was on stage with Max Tretene and Enrico Vidale presenting it!
  • Bonus: NetBSD port to Sam460ex + demo of AmigaOS 3.3 betas current state. Yes, 3.3!

3. Darkage Software — Eldemar! Paolo D’Urso (Passione Amiga magazine) is my hero. He presented Eldemar — old-school 3D hack & slash that runs on stock A1200 and CD32 but scales up if you have beefier config! Exactly how Amiga games should be made! And Kickstarter soon. Plus sneak peek of Dardari brothers return (Over The Net!) with a new football game! Can’t wait!

4. Mike Battilana + TheA1200 — Mike (Cloanto, C1-Text, Personal Paint!) presented revised Amiga logo and unboxed TheA1200 live — everyone held their breath! So wholesome. TheA1200 brings Amiga into stores worldwide very soon.

5. Hyperion was there too — Timothy De Groote and George Sokianos (Walkero) — language barrier because talks were Italian, so I was translating for them. George, learn Italian next time! 😆

This is why I love our community — 13 years absence, and we return stronger. Empoli 2026 felt like 1992 again, but with NVMe.

What sort of memories did you have from Pianeta Amiga this year?
