AmigTA1: Native AmigaOS 68k Port of GTA 1 Released
August 2026 – A developer has released AmigTA1, a native 68k port of the original 1997 Grand Theft Auto for AmigaOS. Yes, you can now cause chaos on a real Amiga.
What is AmigTA1?
AmigTA1 is a native port of GTA 1 to AmigaOS 3.x. It is not an emulator. It runs directly on 68020+ CPUs with AGA graphics. The project reimplements the game engine to work on classic Amiga hardware.
A community developer has ported the original Grand Theft Auto 1 from 1997 to run on classic Amiga hardware.

This is huge for 2026. This is one of the biggest community ports of 2026. Seeing GTA run on an A1200 with accelerator is proof the Amiga scene is still pushing limits. GTA on a real Amiga.
