Amiga Makes It Possible

Full-Size Amiga 1200 Replica Now Due December 2026

Retro Games Ltd showed off THEA1200 again at Gamescom, and we finally have more details on the full-size Amiga 1200 replica. The bad news: it’s been delayed again. The good news: it’s looking more complete than ever.

What is THEA1200?

Following the success of THEA500 Mini with over 100,000 units sold, Retro Games Ltd is bringing back the Amiga 1200 as a full-size, plug-and-play system

“This was the machine that made the 90s come alive for a generation of players,” said Paul Andrews, Managing Director at Retro Games Ltd

Features & Specs

  • Full-size working keyboard: Unlike the A500 Mini, this has every key. Perfect for Workbench and text adventures
  • HDMI output: 50/60Hz with scaling and CRT filters
  • 4x USB ports: For gamepads, mouse, keyboard, and USB sticks
  • Save States: 4 save slots per game

Release Date & Price

Originally planned for June 16, 2026, Retro Games Ltd announced a delay to Friday, December 4, 2026. Reason: hardware is complete, but the OS “isn’t yet where it needs to be” and there are chip shortages

UK Price: £149.99 / US: $189.99. Pre-orders started November 10, 2025

Launch Edition Bonus

UK launch editions will include an exclusive 36-page collector’s ZZAP! Amiga magazine made with Fusion Retro Books. Only for the first production run

Emiko’s Take

THEA1200 isn’t FPGA like some hoped, it’s emulation. But after the A500 Mini, Retro Games knows how to nail the feel. A real keyboard + Workbench + WHDLoad means this could be the easiest way to get into Amiga in 2026 without recapping a real board.

December 4th can’t come fast enough.
