Links 2.17 WWW text mode only browser with SSL Support for MorphOS

The very first version came out in 1999. Which is 19 years ago! Today Links is one of the most known text-only WWW browsers. This web browser is used by many users which wants to gather information fast without the need of seeing graphical web pages. You can find Links for almost every operating system ever released and now the very latest version 2.17 is out for MorphOS.

This version of Links news highlights is SSL Support, supporting colors, correct table rendering, background downloading, menu driven configuration interface and slim code. Frames are supported too, which you can freely get from Aminet.

Links 2.17 with SSL Support for MorphOS

This browser for MorphOS, requires that you have correct REXX installed. You can copy this from AmigaOS 3.1.4 which is sold at various Amiga stores worldwide right now. With this new browser, you can now get supported SSL. Which means that you can enter sites with security protection turned on.

These are the Changes in Links 2.17

  • Added lang.rexx script
  • Added Amiga keyboard patch
  • Cleaned archive (lha d links-mos.lha links-2.1?/graphics/*)
  • Disabled UTF-8 terminal because of missing console.device support
  • Added icon

 

It is nice to see other types of web browsers getting MorphOS ports. Links is known for being fast and with a fast operating system. Some will love it. Especially people that have been using Links on Linux for a long time.
