If you got the desire to cut off other peoples heads virtually? Then you might had a crush on the violent but popular game from the 1980’s named as Barbarian. This Commodore 64 game hit was converted to Amiga, but the Amiga version wasn’t as good. So, finally the Amigascene got a Worthy remake! Barbarian Plus is here.
Barbarian Plus is a Remake for Classic Amiga
Barbarian Plus is all about the classic Barbarian, The Utlimate Warrior! But this new version that is heavily based on Barbarian adds so much more to the game. And the best thing is that Everything is for free.
This version of the game aims at improving the original that came out for Commodore 64 with better graphics and music, more scenes, boss fights and more warrior types. Barbarian Plus also features one and two player mode, a demo mode, a tutorial mode and cut scenes.
100 Colours at the same time on the screen on OCS Amiga
One of the technical improvements that is worth mentioning was explained by Colin Vella.
He managed to squeeze out lots of Colours at the same time for Amiga 500, Amiga 1000, Amiga 1500 and Amiga 2000 that uses the OCS Amiga chipset from Commodore.
At the popular Amiga Bill’s live stream on Twitch Colin mentioned that he used a Copper technique when coding this remake in AMOS PRO. A unknown colour technique is used so that all Amiga’s that can run this game can show 100 colours at the same time on the screen when playing Barbarian Plus.
Colin also mentioned that the team behind this Barbarian remake choose to release the game for Free because of the similarities with the original game. So, Barbarian Plus is totally free and the game is also Available on Amiopia Amiga Archives page for Download.
Amiga Community is Amazing
What a release! Amiga users are so unique and cool. And with this final comment to the Barbarian Plus release. I want to send a big thanks to the team behind it. I also want to thank Amiga Bill (The Guru Meditation) for bringing Amiga community together on his streams. Getting such productivity known is vital and he unites people like no other.
The Amiga community seems to be active everywhere in these times. Releasing such quality remakes for Amiga is what this community is all about.
