Until today. The only digital sketching app that is available for AmigaOS is TVPaint. But that app is no more in development for our beloved platform. So it’s been a quite big gap until SketchBlock knocked that stat down. Finally this nextgen AmigaOS is getting something that gives people outside of the Amiga community to actually want to invest in a AmigaOS 4 compatible computer.
The fact that AmigaOS 4 users can purchase is a fantastic thing to see. Finally Amiga people can sketch in a modern paint program that supports larger images and much more. This is needed! AmigaOS was known for its multimedia capabilities and this legacy is something that AmigaOS 4 should continue.
Latest SketchBlock is available on AmiStore
Andy Broad has published the latest SketchBlock Pro for AmigaOS 4 users to purchase. It is now available on AMIStore App Store for a whooping low price at ONLY £15 which is equal to around 162 Norwegian Kroner. This is a bargain for anyone that wants to draw amazing sketches.
To be fair, I think that this product should have been priced way more. Maybe around £60? TVPaint v3.6 was sold for over £800, so here you get a very advanced paint program for almost nothing.
Also on Amigaworld site, they write that all previous purchases of SketchBlock Lite qualify for a 33% upgrade discount off SketchBlock Pro. With such app appearing for AmigaOS 4, this OS can for sure show what it is capable of. At last!
Digital Sketching For AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition
SketchBlock for AmigaOS 4 allows you to create amazing high resolution artwork, in High Dynamic Range Colour, which is pretty awesome. This app requires you to have AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition installed and also ProAction from os4depot.net for the REXX based tools.
Whilst optimized for freehand painting and sketching, SketchBlock also offers many image processing features, and provides a smooth experience on even low end PowerPC based nextgen Amiga machines.
The professional edition of the app offers a feature upgrade in the painting tools, extended image processing options, and powerful memory management for larger images.
Features in SketchBlock Pro 3.1
- Over 100 High quality brushes
- Smooth painting action
- Full tablet support
- Image processing features such as scale, rotate, convolution, bilataral filtering, alpha masking.
- Improved text tool with perfectly antialiased text

You can also read all about the features that SketchBlock 3.1 got on Andy Broads site here. Amitopia Amiga Magazine choose to write about this news item, because this developer deserves all the support that he can get. Providing AmigaOS with such app is very very needed. So! If you got AmiStore then you should purchase and buy this app.
We hope that Andy will release SketchBlock for AmigaOS 3.1.4, AROS and MorphOS in the future.
